We get back to our cars for the queen stage of the Rally, the day we have all been waiting for – the drive to North Cape

We arrive in convoy at the stroke of midnight. Headlights on and horns blaring, we line up next to the famous globe, on the edge of a 300-m-high cliff. To the north lie the Arctic Ocean, Svalbard (Spitsbergen)… …and the North Pole.

We crack open the champagne and celebrate on the roofs of our sticker-covered, mud-splattered cars. We are exhausted, but that doesn’t stop us revelling in the midnight sun until 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning before we drop off into a deep sleep.
