Today’s drive is much shorter, so we have time to explore the Lofoten Islands and concentrate on taking great photos

We spend the evening in a village at the end of the track, but, before we settle in, we head off under the midnight sun for a “night-time” hike to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Europe, overlooking the enchanting Trollfjord (the fjord of the Trolls).

Our campsite is beside the home of a local man who has hosted every edition of the Rally. He and Philippe became friends when they worked together on a documentary for Norwegian television (broadcast in 1998) about four old ladies who fought to ensure a road was built to serve their village. Gunnar invites all the participants to spend the evening in his home and to sing along with him and his faithful guitar.
